U of Tennessee Creates Evaluation/Benchmarking Website
Source: HPCWire, April 25, 1997
The University of Tennessee has organized a World Wide Web site devoted to
performance evaluation and benchmarking, called BenchWeb. The URL for
BenchWeb is http://www.netlib.org/benchweb/
BenchWeb is a starting point for finding information about computer systems
performance benchmarking efforts, benchmark results, and benchmark codes.
Contributions of URLs to the site from users are welcome.
To enable easy navigation, the performance evaluation/benchmark information
is organized into several different views. Users may browse by platform,
by vendor or benchmark organization, or by application area. An alphabetical
list of all links on the site is also provided.
Categories of platforms for which performance evaluation and benchmark
information is available include high performance computers, workstations,
and personal computers. Pointers are provided to downloadable source code for
many different benchmarks, such as NAS, ParkBench, LINPACK, Top500, and
Whetstone from Netlib.
Information is also available on BenchWeb about conferences, papers, and
newsgroups related to performance evaluation and benchmarking.
BenchWeb is part of the National HPCC Software Exchange (NHSE). The NHSE is
a distributed collection of software, documents, data, and information of
interest to the high performance and parallel computing community. The NHSE
seeks to actively promote software sharing and reuse within and across HPCC
agency programs on a sustainable basis. The NHSE facilitates the development
of discipline-oriented software and document repositories, and promotes
contributions and use via the WWW. Development of the NHSE is being carried
out by the Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC).
