Interior-Point Methods: Design,
Analysis, and Applications

Richard Tapia, Amr El-Bakry, Yin Zhang

Presented at the 1997 CRPC Annual Meeting Poster Session

The poster addresses several CRPC activities in computational optimization and its application to computational biology. These activities cover four important areas:

  1. Design and implementation of interior-point methods that demonstrate promising global convergence properties.
  2. Extension of interior-point methodology to the important problem of semidefinite programming.
  3. Effective finite termination procedures in linear programming.
  4. Application of optimization techniques to important problems in computational biology; specifically, the phase retrieval problem in X-ray crystallography and the three-dimensional virus reconstruction problem.
This poster demonstrates progress made in each of these areas.
