1996 Student Conference and Symposium

Through funding from the National Science Foundation, the Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC) will again actively support the SC-COSMIC Student Conference on Computational Science. The conference, to be held October 25-27, 1996 at University of Texas-El Paso, will unite students from minority institutions to explore their futures in computational science and engineering. Many of these attendees are or will be minority graduate students in science and engineering.

Information on Travel Support

Through funding from the National Science Foundation, we will make travel support available to students to present their papers. We propose to provide financial support to every student whose paper is accepted. However, if the request significantly exceeds the available budget, first priority will be given to students from minority institutions, or from minority ethnic groups.

Hotel Information

Note that as of October 6, the Cliff Inn, 1600 Cliff Drive, is now the hotel where conference attendees will stay.

Please Disregard: Conference organizers have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Park Place hotel in downtown El Paso, on the assumption that there will be two students in each room, for a special rate of $55 per room per night. To get this rate, a student must call the hotel at (915) 533-8241 and mention COSMIC or SC COSMIC. The hotel has a complimentary bus service to and from El Paso airport.
