WHEELER AND ASSOCIATES RECEIVE DOE GRANT FOR RESERVOIR MODELING

In conjunction with researchers from other universities and several energy companies, CRPC researchers received a $4 million research grant to develop a prototype parallel petroleum reservoir simulator. Principal investigators for the project include CRPC researchers Mary Wheeler, Todd Arbogast, and Clint Dawson of Rice University. The announcement was made on February 9 in Houston, TX as part of a larger $27 million Department of Energy initiative to use advanced technologies to increase domestic petroleum production.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for us to continue our collaboration with industry, as well as with the government labs," project director Mary Wheeler told Rice News in a February 16 article. The project will integrate physical and numerical modeling techniques developed by CRPC researchers and other groups and make these technologies available to industry collaborators as they are produced.
