H.S. WORKSHOP AT CALTECH SEEKS EXPERIENCE FROM HPCC COMMUNITY

For the past two years, the CRPC and Caltech have hosted the "Computers: The Machines, Science, People, and Careers!" workshop (see the April 1994 issue of Parallel Computing Research). The program, which is held annually during March, introduces underrepresented minority students in high schools around the Los Angeles area to opportunities in computational science and engineering. The workshop features talks by speakers from the CRPC and other institutions related to high- performance computing, demonstrations of scientific visualizations and interactive technologies, and visits to various computing- related sites across the Caltech campus. Students become more aware of career opportunities and are introduced to technical material in an entertaining manner.

For next year, workshop organizers are looking for presenters and other individuals interested in providing resources and assistance. For more information, contact Jim Muldavin, Capitol Focus Project, at 916-443- 2229.
