CRPC to Sponsor Short Course at Caltech on Parallel Computing January 24, 1994

The CRPC will present a short course entitled "Parallel Computation: Practice, Perspectives, and Potential" on Monday, January 24, 1994 on the Caltech campus. This course is for anyone interested in evaluating the potential of parallel computing, introducing this technology into their organizations, developing parallel applications, or carrying out research in this area.

This one-day course is an introduction to the tools, languages, architectures, applications, technology transfer, and program- development methods in parallel computing. The course will be conducted by CRPC researchers K. Mani Chandy, John Dennis, Jack Dongarra, Geoffrey Fox, Ken Kennedy, Dan Meiron, and Paul Messina, who will offer practical information and their own perspectives within this field.

The course is open for no charge to CRPC and Caltech corporate affiliates and registrants associated with Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. For other attendees, there is a charge of $100. All attendees must register by December 15, 1993. Registration includes the course, lecture notes, a tour of the Caltech machine room, refreshments, breakfast, lunch, and a reception. All registrants are welcome to attend the CRPC meeting and annual research symposium taking place at Caltech two days after the course. A multi-tape video presentation of the course will be available in March for $100.
