Hispanic Group Honors Tapia

Source: Rice News, August 25, 1994

Hispanic school administrators recognized Richard Tapia, a professor of computational and applied mathematics at Rice, for his work with minority students.

Tapia, the Noah Harding Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics, received a Professor Award at the Association of Hispanic School Administrators' second annual Noche de las Estrellas banquet at the Stouffer Presidente Hotel on Friday, June 10.

The award announcement said the honor is given to "university professors who extend themselves 'beyond the call of duty' to students of color. These professors nurture and encourage college students to excel and make it possible for us to advance professionals."
