CRPC AWARDS AND HONORS

Ian Foster and John Michalakes of Argonne National Laboratory and David Abramson and Rok Sosic of Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia won the Best Paper Award at SUPERCOMPUTING '95 for "Relative Debugging and its Application to the Development of Large Numerical Models."

K. Mani Chandy of the California Institute of Technology has won the 1996 IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award. The Kobayashi Award is given for outstanding technical contributions in the field of integration of computers and communications.

Cynthia Lanius, Project Manager of the CRPC's GirlTECH Program, has been awarded an Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowship from the AAUW Educational Foundation. The fellowship is designed to promote gender equity in public schools.

Armando Lara and Pedro Sepulveda, both former "Spend a Summer with a Scientist" students at Rice University, have been awarded GEM Fellowships by the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. The fellowships provide tuition toward their Master's degrees and summer internships at Olin Corporation (Lara) and Proctor & Gamble (Sepulveda).
