CRPC to Exhibit Research Developments, Education Programs at SC98

Orlando, FL -- CRPC research, applications, knowledge transfer methods, and educational outreach programs will be represented with demonstrations, videos, handouts, posters, and presentations at SC98. The 10th annual high-performance computing and communications conference and exhibit will be held November 7-13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Visitors to the CRPC booth (#R657) will have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of research and outreach projects, including SV2-The Collaborative Scientific Data Visualization Framework, mpiJava, HPJava, WebFlow over Globus, Tango Interactive, Parallel Reservoir Simulation, the National HPCC Software Exchange, Netsolve, GirlTECH, and more.

A daily schedule of demonstrations, presentations, and videos will be posted at the booth and is available on the CRPC SC98 web site at http://www.crpc.rice.edu/CRPC/SC98/.

CRPC researchers will have a strong presence in the SC98 Technical Program, taking part in many tutorials, posters, and technical paper presentations. Topics include High Performance Fortran Compilation Techniques, A Parallel Linear Algebra Server for MATLAB-like Environments, Automatically Tuned Linear Algebra Software (ATLAS), WebFlow, and other leading-edge research. CRPC researchers will demonstrate projects in other booths as well, including the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)/Alliance (#R660), the National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI) (#R665), Education and Outreach Training-Partnerships for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (EOT-PACI) (#R668), and the Department of Defense/High Performance Computing Modernization Office (DoD/HPCMO) (#780).

Several CRPC sites and affiliated sites will have individual booths at the exhibit, including Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (#R570), Caltech (#R650), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) (#R751), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) (#R117). In addition, CRPC Director Ken Kennedy will be an invited speaker at a special media briefing to be held November 9 at 6 p.m in Room 203A. On Tuesday, November 10, 5:00-6:30 pm, Kennedy will participate in a Town Hall Meeting held in Room 110A of the Orange County Convention Center. The meeting will feature the activities of the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC), of which he is a co-chair. SC98 participants will be able to ask questions of several PITAC members. Kennedy will also deliver a State-of-the-Industry Plenary Speech about PITAC on Wednesday, November 11, 9:15-10:00 a.m.
