The Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC) provided participant support for select students and teachers to attend the fourth annual Houston-area Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference, held Saturday, April 13, 1996 at The Rice School/La Escuela Rice.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW)'s West Harris County branch, which has been organizing these conferences since 1993, reports that more than 600 students chose from more than 70 "career exploration" workshops.

In addition, teachers, parents, and counselors attended adult sessions, with topics ranging from "Promoting Gender Equity in Education" to "Teaching TAAS using NCTM Standards." The opening address began at 9:00 a.m., and workshops and adult sessions ran from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break at noon.
